Amazon to Macmillan: You Win (for Now)

While the ebook war between Apple and Amazon has only just begun, this weekend’s drama between Macmillan and Amazon has ended decisively in the book publisher’s favor.

…N discount card to get a PHYSICAL book in hand. And at that price is one reason I haven’t bought very many new books lately. The $9.99 price is a very fair price and one I’m willing to pay. I guess there are those out there that will pay. Well, keep the publishers riding around in their mercedes and living in those million dollar mansions….not me thank you. And if the other publishers want to go this route, my decision to buy a reader for my birthday will turn to “No” instead of “Yes”. And of course they will not be getting any new customer sales from me. Talk about publishers cutting off their nose just to spite their face. AlKzNot sure how I feel about this issue overall. But those who think ebooks are that much cheaper to produce need to rethink that. I think you’ll find that the cost of paper, printing, and binding isn’t as big a piece of the cost as you might think. There are plenty of costs involved getting the book to the point of sending it to the printer. E-books have additional costs to format as…
