Aside from my personal connection with this topic (as a deadhead and PR pro), he is absolutely spot on with this. By doing what everyone else thought was bad practice in the music industry (i.e. encouraging free distribution of their music), this band made millions, encouraged decades of lifelong fans, and spawned an entire genre of jam-bands who model after The Dead. Harvard economist Raj Chetty and 5 other researchers examined the lives of 12,000 children who had been part of an ’80s education experiment, and who were now about 30 years old. They found that some teachers were able to help students learn much more than others, and the students who learned more in kindergarten were more like to go to college

…The students with the effective kindergarten teachers were earning more. They were more likely to be saving for retirement. At the age of 27, these students with good kindergarten teachers were earning an extra $100 a year for every percentile they had moved up in test-score distribution in kindergarten. Why Bankruptcies Continue to Skyrocket

A number of factors have been attibuted to more people filing for bankruptcy, but the biggest has been the financial crisis and Great Recession.

…A recent report from the American Bankruptcy Institute revealed that bankruptcy filings were up 14 percent during the first half of 2010 compared to the same period in 2009. This increase represented a total of 770,117 filings through June of this year.
A number of factors have been attributed to more people filing for bankruptcy, but the biggest has been the financial crisis and Great Recession. To understand more about the increase in bankruptcies, how the recent financial events have affected it and whether it will continue in the future, let’s take a closer look at this this procedure.
Why a Person Initiates a Bankruptcy Filing
